SouthShore Mall sold to invester
Aberdeen Mayor Bill Simpson announced at Wednesday’s Aberdeen City Council meeting that the SouthShore Mall has been sold for an undisclosed amount of money.
Mayor Simpson says the buyer from New York, Mike Kohan, has invested in malls that have been successful and a few have been unsuccessful. Kohan has been linked to mall revitalization nationwide.
Simpson says Kohan has some great plans for the mall and that he is planning on having a conference call with Kohan soon to discuss how they can work together.
Opened in 1981, the mall is anchored by JC Penny, Coming Attractions Theatres, and Sears. During the last 10 years, the property has lost multiple long term tenants. Sears currently owns it’s building with an entrance into the mall.
