If you ask me, the biggest legend to leave their job in the last few weeks is still John Ourand.
The PGA Tour and its would-be investors are eyeing NFL Chief Media and Business Officer Brian Rolapp to lead a newly capitalized global golf business, sources tell me and my colleague Josh Carpenter. It would be a huge shift for Rolapp, who’s been at the NFL for more than 20 years, but would make sense given the strong, stable state of NFL media revenue and Commissioner Roger Goodell’s recent contract extension.
Rolapp has not yet been approached directly by the tour, sources said, and whether the job atop a planned “PGA Tour Enterprises” even exists depends on a successful conclusion to the ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour, the Saudi Public Investment Fund and the Strategic Sports Group.
