For Mike Wandler, the president of L&H Industrial, the development of the nuclear energy industry is reminiscent of a series of events in the 1950s and 60s.
“It really follows the same thing that the government did with the Space Race,” Wandler said.
Right now, China and Russia are in the lead when it comes to nuclear power, and the U.S. government has realized it can’t get to “net zero,” in which the amount of greenhouse gases produced is equal to the amount of greenhouse gases that are removed from the atmosphere, without nuclear energy, Wandler said.
“The other clean energies are not going to get us to where we need to be,” he said. “We have no choice but to go with nuclear.”
