Mayor to appoint economic development director

Sandwich Mayor Todd Latham looks to appoint an economic development director at Monday’s 7 p.m. city council meeting.

During his three years in office, Latham has sought an economic director to bring new business and industry to the city for tax dollars and jobs. Now six months after council approval for a new staff position, the appointment is ready.

With a $45,000 expected annual salary plus benefits, the job description had listed tourism and financial grant writing for the part-time person back in November, when the council approved the employment position in a 7-1 vote with only alderman Rick Whitecotton dissenting.

This is Mayor Latham speaking at that meeting.
