TOKYO — Business sentiment among Japan’s large manufacturers has risen for the third straight quarter, pointing to signs of recovery in both domestic and overseas demand.
In the Bank of Japan’s quarterly Tankan survey published Wednesday, the headline diffusion index (DI) among large manufacturers was at plus 12 for the October to December quarter, compared with plus 9 in the July to September quarter. This compares with a median forecast of plus 10 in a Quick survey of economists.
