Holcim makes investment in Hagerstown cement plant, highlights low carbon fuels

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) — The Holcim Cement Plant has been a fixture on Hagerstown’s manufacturing landscape for 120 years.

The plant, which is owned by a Swiss-based multinational corporation, is expanding its Washington County operations in the production of sustainable home-building materials such as roofing products.

The company is most proud of its environmentally friendly low-carbon fuel systems.

“We made a significant investment in the sustainability of the facility,” said Michael Nixon, vice president for manufacturing. “It’s to reduce carbon emissions, one of our key levers to improving our overall environmental footprint.”
