Employee credited for stopping fire in Dollar General drink cooler

CASPER, Wyo. – A quick-acting store employee stopped a cooler fire from becoming an emergency situation on Sunday.

According to a release from Casper Fire-EMS, firefighters were dispatched to the Dollar General on CY Ave. just before noon on Sunday for reports of a drink cooler that had caught fire.

The release said that by the time crews arrived, a store employee had deployed a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. Firefighters then assisted in ventilating smoke from the store. An employee was evaluated by medical teams on site, and declined any further treatment or transport to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.

According to the release, store managers said Dollar General would stay closed during cleanup on Sunday, but did not indicate any further disruptions to business.
